Face Shield Project
When COVID-19 struck and some of our relatives who are Health Care Professionals were desperate for PPE, we jumped in to help them. To help our Health Care Providers, we created custom face shields, out of 3D printed material, for our local hospitals.
Since we had done FTC for 1 year, we were all pretty experienced in designing CAD modules for later 3D printing. In our time using CAD, we learned how to design, manipulate, and print these custom modules. We used CAD to design our base of the face mask, then we used open SCAD to scale preferences in sizes.
Overall, we succeeded in completing our goal of helping out our local hospitals to keep everyone safe. In total we made over 300 masks for hospital bulk and for personal customers. Making these face shields really helped our front line in the battle against COVID, and all of the complications that come with being in the medical field. Hospitals reached out to us to see if we could mass produce these shields, which shows that such a small act can help out in the long run.
